There’s 10 vacancies, and there are 37 candidates. After a non-transparent selection process, only 8 are selected. Another 2 vacancies are to be filled later. A previous exercise 5 years ago yielded 10 candidates who took up all the 10 vacancies.
If the above was a scenario of staff recruitment, school prefects selection, scholarship awarding, or EXCO selection, what can we understand from the outcome?1. The MIC representative, along with the other 28 assemblymen, is not capable to be an EXCO. Thus in an equal-opportunity environment, we find only 8 qualified.
2. The MB feels 8 is enough. Maybe numerologist advice? As a grim reminder of March 8 perhaps?
3. If it was a race-quota based recruitment, then we can say MIC have been snubbed. Now those fellows had to hold an emergency meeting to resolve that the assemblyman should be given an EXCO post.
4. MB wants to see who is willing to ask for the post.
However, 2004-2008 session also did not have any MIC EXCO. If follow MIC Pahang’s logic, last 5 years they could not voice out the community problem properly?

MENTAKAB, MON:
Pahang MIC has asked Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob to consider appointing the sole assemblyman from the MIC in Pahang as a state executive councillor.
Its deputy chairman, A. Shivalingam, said today Datuk M. Davendran, the third-term assemblyman for Sabai, would be able to voice out the problems of the Indian community better and contribute effectively to the prosperity of Pahang.
He said the Pahang MIC committee held an emergency meeting yesterday and resolved that Davendran be considered for a post of state executive councillor.
Eight assemblymen were sworn in as state executive councillors before the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah, at the Sultan Abu Bakar Palace in Pekan last Thursday. Adnan had said then that the number of executive councillors could be increased if necessary. Pahang had 10 executive councillors in the previous state administration.
