Hmmm…DAP only have Chinese and Indian candidates. So, not much options. But what irritates me is that the idea of seat being allocated by race. DAP allocates 2 seats for Indians, and the balance 4 for Chinese, says a “high-ranking insider”. Why not pick the best 6 for the job? Of course it is heartening to know that Indians are finally being given chance to serve the state/country at a higher level, but I hope these guys do the job well and not spoil the community’s name.
PKR also creating another problem. Why allocate seats by race (one for each) for its 3 seats? It should be the best man/woman for the job. In this way, it is possible that another Indian (like Ayyathurai N24 Teluk Intan) or Chinese or Malay assemblyman may get a chance to be EXCO. Simple.
3 Indian reps in Perak exco?

IPOH: The new Perak exco line-up will probably see the appointment of three assemblymen from DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) representing the Indian community, the highest ever in the history of the state. All these years, the Indian community only had a sole MIC assemblyman representing them.
It is learnt that the DAP has submitted the names of Buntong assemblyman A. Sivasubramaniam, Tronoh assemblyman V. Sivakumar and Sungkai assemblyman A. Sivanesan, while PKR has submitted the name of its sole Indian representative, Hutan Melintang assemblyman S. Kesavan.
A high-ranking DAP insider said one of the party’s three candidates will be dropped as it has allocated only two exco seats for its elected Indian representatives. “For the time being, it looks like Sivanesan is quite secure. The fight will be between the other two,” he told the New Straits Times yesterday.
This followed the tripartite state government’s agreement on the allocation of exco seats, with six for DAP, three for PKR and two, including the menteri besar’s post, for Pas.
In the just-concluded general election, DAP secured the highest number of seats in the state with 18, followed by PKR with seven and Pas with six in the 59-seat state assembly.
The four other exco seats for DAP will be most filled by its senior assemblymen, with state DAP chairman and Sitiawan assemblyman Ngeh Koo Ham and Pantai Remis assemblyman Nga Kor Ming likely to be included.
As for PKR, it is believed that the party has agreed to appoint three assemblymen representing the major races in the country. Apart from Kesavan, state PKR treasurer and Behrang assemblyman Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi is also tipped to fill one of the exco posts.
Pas will have another of its assemblyman appointed to fill the last exco post, besides Pasir Panjang assemblyman Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin who was recently sworn in as the 12th menteri besar.
All the party leaders, however, remained tight-lipped when contacted for comments. “I cannot say anything for now. We are waiting for instructions (on the swearing-in ceremony) from the palace,” was the reply from Ngeh.
A palace official said the date for the swearing-in ceremony had yet to be fixed. “We are not sure, but definitely not tomorrow,” the official said yesterday. Nizar had submitted the list of exco candidates to the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah at Istana Perak in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
