Opps…KIMMA does it again

Is this another candidate for Malaysian Book of Records? Or maybe Guinness even? Can’t blame these guys for not trying. This time, KIMMA decides to join the protest bandwagon and says that it will organise a protest of 10,000 people (looks like have to close quite a few mamak shops for half day) and hand in memorandum (READ: fill up garbage bin) to PM’s Office. Its president Muhammed Ali Naina Mohd said that they had applied to be Barisan Nasional members five times, but had been rejected every time. Well, that’s pretty obvious. If you are applying for 6th time, it means the last 5 times failed.

It seems that KIMMA is one of the biggest loser since there were no Indian Muslim councillors, senators or MPs from Kimma.

Asked if they had considered joining the Pakatan Rakyat government, the president of KIMMA said it β€œis under consideration” but they had never applied.

I thought KIMMA is already IN BN by virtue of joining with PPP? KIMMA also asked for bumiputera status, but most likely not entertained.

Well, i think the Ex-Premiere is coaching them….:D

  2. VJ says:

hahaha …. since the ex-premier is not under any party …. kimma should offer membership to the ex-premier (make sense anyway) . At least then they will have powerful voice to push badawi…

Im sure we would have blown up the issue if this lame joke was pointed towards tamilian by a Malay dude πŸ™‚ Agreed ?

    • poobalan says:

Mamak shops are common words found even in newspapers, beside daily conversation. And who can forget tasty mee goreng mamak? πŸ™‚

  4. novinthen says:

well, my question IS , if a malay menteri or maybe UMNO guy said it,will it be blown out of propotion or not πŸ™‚ We will never see it as a joke but classify it as rasictic term put on Indian Muslims. Agreed or not agreed. Simple πŸ™‚

Im sure the word KELING also is in DBP Dictionary and fits just nicely in many malay’s daily conversations specially those from Kelantan and so on.

    • poobalan says:

again, i think answer to your question is no – it will not be blown out of proportion if any malay menteri or umno guy says it. so, i don’t agree. πŸ™‚

many words are in the dictionary. but surely not all of them are used in public or published in media for everyday use. i met many kelantanese while studying and even few are of my colleagues now are kelantanese. not even once i heard them mention the word “keling” in public.

remember, i mentioned “mamak shop”, as in adjective which is a common term widely used all over malaysia and also appears in many travel mags and tourism websites. i did not call anyone “mamak”. i think that is a big difference. πŸ˜‰

      why do you think?

      • maya says:

        mr. poobalan – i agree with u
        novin – ithu theveya? πŸ™‚

it’s not about “thevai”, but about providing check and balance. the reader may highlight if got mistakes by the writer, and vice versa. no one is perfect and i appreciate bro novinthen’s comments. as long as one is sincere and civilized in his communications, respect will be there.

  5. maya says:

    mr. poobalan – agreed.
    novin – i was juz joking πŸ™‚

  6. VJ says:

heard DRM opened Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma) new administrative office in Sentul today….. so did they offer him the membership form ??…… grab him …… πŸ™‚

Back in action πŸ™‚ sorry for late reply. Was running here n there.

Anyway, I still stand on the same ground . It will be blown out of proportion if it was said by any Malay or Chinese dude πŸ™‚ . Thats reality. That is the dystopia i live in. Maybe in Mr.Poobalan’s utopia,it wont happen.

Oh, sharing some bit news. I stayed in Kelantan for 1 year. Was studying in Kelantan Politeknik for sometime. I know some kelantan born malays.
πŸ™‚ Im sure not MANY as Mr.Poobalan knows, but some πŸ™‚ And they call Indians as keling. We must go into Kelantan to see the real thing.

Outside our homes, most of us act good πŸ™‚

And Mr.Poobalan , nalla comedy pandringe. You , urself said u did not label anyone as MAMAK. That means u know labelling someone as MAMAK is offensive.

If someone call our restorens as Keling shop will it be OK ?

Im just saying we must not label anyone with any Names. Indian muslims, not mamaks . Indian muslim eatry. Not mamak shops.

And Maya,. If can ,debate ethically πŸ™‚ Take a stand in something.

  8. Aryaputra says:

Let us all go to an Indian Muslim eatery and have a good Mee Goreng Indian Muslim.

You don’t have to go Kelantan to hear the word “keling” it was also used in August House.

For me both “terms” are derogatory.

  9. CT says:

The problem is that not many Indians know that the origin of the work Keling. It has been mentioned to originate from Kalinga, which is a regional power then.
It has been the norms people associate certain proverbs with those prominent with the habits like Keling Botol, Cakap Keling which existed in the DBP Dictionary.

Normally, the Malays or Baba Chinese will use the word Keling only meant for those Indians who are not ethical in the way they supposed to do.

My personal believe is that if the word Keling is banned then the proverbs will just adjust by itself, example Keling Botol = India Botol; Cakap Keling = Cakap India;; the meanings will still remain the same.

I believe there is no need to change.

my 2 cents and I do not intend to offend, if I do , I apologise.
