Subject: Re: shah alam temple demolished and media blackout

Dear Sirs,

MIC people did came but it was too late, we have waited for them since morning. We are tired of calling politician to help us since morning. Why when election time they are punctual in visiting us to have our votes.

Can you imagine our children studying in the kindergarten and MBSA started to bring in machines to demolish the kindergarten which is apart of the temple. Can you feel our pain when you see our children and women praying in the temple, chanting and singing theyvaram from morning till evening, so that someone helps us to rescue our temple from being demolish.

The temple is apart of Padang Jawa peoples life. The temple has helped us; provides shelter, food, education guidance, career guidance, motivation for us to improve ourselves, even sponsoring youngster’s motivation club, teaching us theyvaram, Indian cultural, and so many activities that has benefited us. In return we are helpless to save our temple. Can you feel how disappointed we are?

The temple was not given any notice to vacant, only the surrounding areas were given notice to move out. In fact we were told that politician is in the negotiating to avoid the temple from being demolished until the temple is given another place. That’s the reason we were against MBSA.

We are grateful to people that came over from Klang, Kg Jawa, Sri Muda and Shah Alam that had helped and protected us from MBSA and police.

As for uncle Sam and other politicians this is a good lesson for them. Please do something to improve the situation the soonest.

Our worries are on those who have been arrested, including the lawyers. Please help us to rescue them, some of them are innocent that tried to helped to transfer the temples belongings and had helped rescuing women and children.

NEW DELHI: Besides wining second place at the World Scrabble Championship, Malaysia's top ranked player Ganesh Asirvatham created a new record by beating the maximum number of opponents simultaneously.

Ganesh, a lecturer from Klang, lost to world number three, New Zealander Nigel Richards, 0-3 in the final of the 9th edition of the championship, held in Mumbai on Monday.

Ganesh created a new world record when he played against 25 players simultaneously and defeated 21 of them, surpassing the previous record of 17 held by Stewart Holden of the United Kingdom.

"It was a big success on both accounts for Ganesh, winning the second spot in the championship and also entering the Guinness Book of World Records.

"He had a lot of crowd support in Mumbai but just failed to win the title," secretary of the Scrabble Association of India, Sam Joseph, said.

Ganesh, 28, had won several titles in his career, including the Singapore Open in 2001 and the Indian Open in 2005.

A total of 110 players from 42 countries took part in the championship sponsored by Mattel Toys India Pvt Ltd. It began on Nov 8.

The winner walked away with a cash prize of US$15,000 (RM50,000) while the runner-up received US$6,000. — Bernama

I know its kind of late, anyway, to all Hindus readers, belated Deepavali naalvalthukal (Happy Deepavali)! May the spark of godliness in us remove veils of ignorance and ego in us. Let us strive to illuminate our lives and also of those around us.

As with most Hindu families, the eve was spent having prayers for the demised.

On Deepavali day, we were at my parents house for prayer, followed by visit to Then’s hometown. The next few days were spent visiting relatives around Klang Valley.

One of the conversation topic wherever we went was the temple demolition at Padang Jawa which was not highlighted in media, except in tamil papers for the first few days. Most of the people I met were extremely unhappy about the issue, and condemned Selangor government and MIC for this. I think BN have lot of salvage work to do in the coming elections.

Jakim, cops and Hindu Sangam meet to sort out religious issues

By LOURDES CHARLES

KUALA LUMPUR: The Islamic Development Department (Jakim), police and Hindu Sangam are working on an amicable way to resolve religious issues affecting Hindus, particularly concerning conversion to Islam and demolition of temples. This was discussed in a meeting between Jakim director-general Datuk Wan Mohamed Sheikh Abdul Aziz and Hindu Sangam president Datuk A. Vaithilingam, arranged by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan in Bukit Aman on Wednesday.

Vaithilingam, who said the meeting had opened up a "new channel", added that the aim was to come up with standard operating procedures on such matters. "This is the beginning of positive things to follow. We now have a better understanding of each others' role as far as religious matters are concerned," he said, adding that the Hindu Sangam and Jakim had agreed to consult each other on religious matters and the issues involved. Vaithilingam praised Musa for his role and concern in wanting to resolve such religious issues peacefully.

Wan Mohamed said more discussions were needed, adding that the department was still in an early stage of exploring and understanding the sensitivity of conversion to Islam. "We will sit down and discuss such sensitive matters with others to find a solution," he assured.

Musa said he called for the meeting, as he did not want certain quarters to exploit the matter. "The best way is to sit down and discuss, and I am available to meet any party to resolve such issues. "The Prime Minister has said that he must be informed before a temple is to be demolished," added the IGP, who sat in at the meeting.
