Samy tries to free Hindraf 5

Well, after Syed Hamis insulted Gerakan indirectly by saying government will not listen to political parties when asked about releasing the 5 Hindraf ISA detainees, Samy Vellu throws his weight and asks the government to release 4 out of the 5 detainees. He specifically mentions that one of the is sick while another has been elected as assemblyman. 2 others are not much involved in the rally organisation. Deaf goverment and limp members

We can expect the support from the Indian community for the government to continue sliding downwards if the hearing problem is not rectified. As Lim Kit Siang challenged, would the Gerakan, MCA and MIC ministers and MPs talk “behind doors” or openly to demand for release of the 5 people? Syed Hamid condemns Gerakan

I realised that in his response to calls from various quarters to free the HINDRAF ISA detainees, Syed Hamid said:

We cannot simply react to political parties‘ call, we have to react towards what is public safety and peace and will make due considerations if there is no threat to national security

HINDRAF 5 detention to be reviewed

 “will be reviewed” is the response from the new Home Minister when asked about releasing the 5 HINDRAF ISA detainees. Not sure when that will be said the minister. Actually, all it needs is just signature from PM. No need to waste time for reviews and hearings. Anyway, this is a  welcomed beginning for the community.  You have listed five issues as your agenda, would you like to elaborate?

… Also, there is the issue of the ISA (Internal Security Act) detainees. We have human rights but the record is not that great comparatively. ISA has always been used against political dissidents, (Hindraf legal adviser and newly-elected Kota Alam Shah state assemblyperson) M Manoharan especially has to be freed unless you charge him in open court.
