I heard many good things about this movie. Thus, there was an air of anticipation when I finally caught this on VCD. After nearly 3 hours, one thing came to my mind: what goes around, comes around.

The director, Ameer, has given a great movie (Raam) before and didn’t disappoint much.

The movie begins with a verse from Thirumurai 49:13, something about God creating man and woman, allowing them to procreate, leading to different race and culture, and for humans to interact with the different cultures.

Tamil Nesan reported that the Rakan Muda programme would be expanded to ensure participation from estate youths. 

Youth and Sports Ministry parliamentary secretary Datuk S. Vigneswaran said the Rakan Muda Wawasan Desa programme would be introduced for estate youths, Felda resettlement schemes and villages. 

He said more awareness campaigns were being organised to attract more youngsters from the rural areas and housing estates to join these programmes.

Samy’s brother dies of heart attack

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk S. P. Vellu, the younger brother of Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, died of a heart attack at the Tawakkal Hospital here last night. He was 68. 

Vellu, a lawyer, was rushed to the hospital from his home early yesterday and admitted to the intensive care unit. He died at 8.04pm. 

Samy Vellu, who is MIC president, was at his brother’s bedside when the lawyer died. 

Scores of relatives and friends, including past and present leaders of the party, had converged at the hospital upon hearing the news of the death.   » Read more: Samy’s brother dies of heart attack

DESPITE her hectic schedule tending to her young child-ren, housewife G. Muru-gayee still has time to do cha- rity work and help the less for-tunate. 

Every day, Murugayee, 46, will ferry ill and destitute patients to and from Ipoh Hospital. 

She also travels from her house in Taman Wah Keong, Ipoh, to visit inmates at an old folks home in Langkap, about 70km away, and attend to their needs. 

She organises religious talks and functions for the young to boost their self-esteem.

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 1,000 delegates from around the world are expected to attend an inaugural world conference here on Siddhar principles from May 25 to May 27.

The event, organised by non-profit organisation Sri Agastiar Nyaana Peedam Malaysia, has attracted the participation of people from such countries as India, Japan, Holland, South Africa, England and France.

"We hope to disseminate the principles of the Siddhars on how to develop the inner qualities to achieve peace and improve the quality of life for all human beings," said organising chairman Arul Selvar Abnaa Nagappen.
