PPP burning its bridges or playing with words?

Missed my own blog for last 5 days! Hmmm…do I sound vain? Anyway, its been an hectic week. But so many things to write about. i’ll start with Drama Minggu Ini from our crowd favorite, PPP. As their President boldly ventured where no one has gone before (OK, I’m stretching it a bit here) by threatening BN to amend ISA, the reply from BN chairman, PM Badawi was simple – its their choice. In others words, PPP no need to waste time talking and issuing statement la. The PM is (in my humble opinion) telling PPP to ship out ASAP. Make the decision and quit BN since its their own choice. Free will. Or is PPP waiting for show cause letter as given to SNAP few months back?

Following that initial statement by Kayveas, a so-called self proclaimed PPP advisor (or is it former president according to Star) I.S. Rajah said he met the Barisan chairman and secretary-general at Parliament and gave them an undertaking that PPP would not leave Barisan. He also said Kayveas should resign or pull out the party from BN. BTW, this guy got sacked as PPP member today.

However, today’s episode sees PPP’s supreme council standing firm behind its president. The vice presidents also engaged in some “wayang kulit” by saying that the PM’s reply was just “merely in response to questions from the media”. It sees “no reason” to stay in BN if BY NEXT ELECTION (that’s about 4.5 years away at most) ISA is not amended. Well, are they expecting public to forget their threat in 15 months? (I chose 15 for the sake of 15th anniversary of Highland Towers which did not seem to teach us anything).

So, if you are a PPP member, what would you do? Err..of course this proper question would be why are you still a PPP member. 🙂

Kayveas threatens BN over ISA

I think PPP haven’t get the point yet. When their invited VIP, Ali Rustam, told PPP to get out of BN during PPP Malacca’s AGM, any self-respecting party would have burn effigies of their enemy, protested day and night, raise a ruckus everyday, and pick a fight with all and sundry. But, the mosquito party, devoid of any such sense, just kept quiet.

And now, what a joke that their leader dare to threaten the coalition? People already asked you to get lost, but you still saying I”ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go!

It seems since PPP Youth and Wanita wants PPP to leave BN if ISA is not amended.

Deputy Minister Murugiah said that:

PPP Youth leader T Murugiah said the party did not support the use of the ISA against the ordinary citizens of Malaysia.

“The ISA was designed to handle a terrorist threat and should be used nly for that purpose,” he added.

Well, would PPP walk the talk, or swallow their pride and stick with BN? I think PM Badawi had mentioned clearly that the ISA would not be amended or changed.

By the way, PPP won’t join the opposition if it ever quits, says Kayveas.

PS: Murugiah would be appointed to PPP supreme council and nominated as vice president since he is without a position in the party. He did not stand for Youth chief due to age.

PM praised Murugiah

Even though he was called a school boy, and being investigated by his own party president, Murugiah still maintain his cool. I guess he thinks that Kayveas’ days are numbered.

Murugiah also checkmates future attacking moves by announcing that PM Badawi himself praised him. So Kayveas, Saravanan, Syed Hamid etc. can keep their less-than-smart and annoying comments to themselves. Only that there’s a small matter of getting endorsement from PM-in-waiting.

Deputy Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Senator T. Murugiah,
whose aggressiveness in overseeing the Public Complaints Bureau has
landed him in trouble with his party boss, claims he has been praised
by the Prime Minister.Murugiah, who is the PPP Youth chief,
said he recently received a call from Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi
to see him in Parliament.

“I was on medical leave then. When I
met him, he praised me and said I was doing a good job (with the
bureau). What more do you want?” he told reporters after chairing a
meeting between residents in Kg Pandan and City Hall authorities at his
office yesterday.

Adding
that he had “no issue” with Kayveas, Murugiah said he had met the
latter on Monday and that “he had then said nothing about the letter”
to him.

“I have my job to do and I don’t have a choice about
this. He (Kayveas) is my boss and mentor, and he groomed me. I am
always grateful to him,” he said.

KIMMA refutes PPP statement

I was wondering when KIMMA will issue a response over PPP’s statement that 3000 ex-KIMMA members have joined PPP. Two of them were even given supreme council seats.

KIMMA says only a fraction of 1 percent of its members jumped ship. Well, if KIMMA has 80,000 members as claimed, THAT WOULD MEAN 3.75 PERCENT, not fraction of 1percent.

KIMMA president says the party has not disbanded or merged with others:

“These statements and reports are rejected outright as being unfounded, misleading and baseless. They were obviously (made) with ulterior motives,” said its president Mohd Ali Naina Mohd.

“Kimma has not been disbanded, dissolved or dismembered, nor has it compromised the priciples laid down by its founders by merging with any other political party,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama.

He clarified that an insignificant number of former Kimma members had decided to join a political party but the number did not represent a fraction of one percent of the total membership of Kimma.

Meanwhile, Mohd Ali said Kimma accepted and respected the ex-members’ decision to join another political entity as any democratic party should.

However, he added that the party regarded as mischievous the assumption that its membership could be used to bolster the sagging political influence of certain parties.

Either one or the other is lying. Why is it nowadays we see more leaders lying? Bad upbringing or circumstances?

Kavyeas investigates Murugiah visiting Teresa

After branding Murugiah as small boy, now Kayveas is under pressure to investigate of Murugiah went to see Teresa Kok over her complaint on food during detention. Teresa Kok not bothered to reply!!!

I think PPP council member Shanmuganathan will be next target because he was quoted as supporting Murugiah.

PPP Youth chief Senator T. Murugiah’s aggressiveness in overseeing the Public Complaints Bureau has landed him in the soup with his own party.

Party president Datuk M. Kayveas has written to Seputeh MP Teresa Kok to enquire if she had made an official complaint to the bureau concerning the poor quality of food served to her during police detention.

Kayveas wanted to know if Teresa had personally approached Murugiah, the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Depertment, to handle her case.

Your feedback is important to the party as to whether he responsibly discharged his duties as a deputy minister,Âť wrote Kayveas in a letter dated Sept 29.

Kayveas, when asked, said he had been questioned by someone (whom he did not want to identify) whether Murugiah went to Teresa’s office on his own initiative.

I am being asked why a BN official went to an opposition party member’s office to see Teresa and I have to reply.Âť

When contacted, Kok said she was not going to reply to the letter because she did not want to get involved in PPP’s internal politics.

I have ignored the letter and I really do not know what is the purpose of the letter.

As far as I am concerned, Murugiah had genuinely executed his duties as a deputy minister and there should be no reason for the letter to be written to me, she told The Star.

On Saturday Kayveas was asked at a press conference if there was any problem with Murugiah’s public service, to which he answered no.

Meanwhile, PPP supreme council member Dr N.A. Shanmuganathan said Murugiah was doing excellent public service attending to problems faced by the public.

His work has created a great impact on the public as he has been able to resolve problems immediately by getting the parties involved to communicate and iron out issues.
