Prof Shad points out that the Deputy in Selangor may have to represent the Menteri Besar when the MB is not around, to attend the Council of Rulers meetings.

The menteri besar is also an ex-officio member of the Dewan Di-Raja (Council of Rulers). This means, when the MB is not around, the deputy has to sit on the council and has to be a Muslim to be able to perform duties in this council.

Earlier, PM said that it is not possible yet to have 2 indian ministers, when he announced the cabinet line-up. But Kayveas comes out in support of 2 Indian minister idea, saying that BN could have gained back some support from the community. I doubt it. No matter how it is looked at, the land and money is still coming from one source – the developer. Let’s see what the state government office, Khir Toyo, Samy Vellu, and Kamal Ganapathy said last year: » Read more: Padang Jawa Temple to be rebuilt (again?)

While the new Selangor MB thinks that its not so urgent to get Manoharan sworn-in, the Bar Council thinks otherwise. For them, not having the ceremony will be depriving Manoharan of his privileges, access to documents, allowances, etc. Perhaps the new MB needs some capable legal advisors so that he can get the correct facts and then provide proper replies. The Bar Council also pointed out that the two ISA detainees who won in 1978 were sworn in at the Kamunting center itself. The NST published a photo of the swearing-in of Chiang Heng Kai, one of the detainees: » Read more: Manoharan willing to be EXCO but not shortlisted
