Is it an apology or not? Yeah, I’m nitpicking. Why is there an “if” in the apology when its crystal clear his action has hurt feeling of Malaysians?

Then, he goes on to apologise for “his failure for not upholding the Malay symbol”, as if he is forced to apologise and not necessarily really meant it. That apology looks like fanning racial sentiment to pit the Malays againsts the other communities.

Cue the organisations that will come in defence of him and start challenging others. » Read more: a dangerous apology from Youth Chief

While the focus was on “is-it-an-apology-or-not” from Hishamuddin over the keris display, I was attracted to what Vigneswaran said on the discussion about HINDRAF ISA detainees. According to him, no consensus was attained. He said he explained MIC’s stand during the BN Youth meeting. As far as I can recall, MIC, MCA, Gerakan have called for the detainees’ release. Not sure on stand of parties from East Malaysia, and I don’t see a reason for them to oppose. That leave only one culprit. No prizes for guessing why consensus was not reached. Does this mean that the rest of them are there just to make numbers, as we suspected all along?

Reaching a consensus is easy. They can choose to agree, disagree, leave it to PM or any other decision.  This also cannot do? » Read more: no consensus from BN Youth on HINDRAF 5

DBKL fighters

I was have early dinner at a restaurant at Jalan Hang Lekiu, KL (the road that leads to the church near Menara Maybank and Telekom Museum). At about 5.45pm, there were shouts of “gaduh, gaduh” (fight, fight) and some patrons went out to catch the action.

When I went out, there were 8 DBKL staff, 2 policemen, a patrol car, and a plump Chinese guy with torn t-shirt. One of the policemen was writing down something, while about 40 onlookers were crowding the area.

From what I gathered from eye witnesses,  3 DBKL officers came and were writing summons for those shops that left their garbage outside their premises along the road. The Chinese guy (from one of the shops) argued why they only summoned his shop while ignoring others. It seems the DBKL guys called him to go to back alley, and then can hear people fighting, chairs smashed. Many people witnessed this. Not sure when the other 5 DBKL people came into the picture.
The chinese guy then called the police and dared the DBKL staff to stay there till the police came. When the police arrived, he was seen to make a report against the BKL staff.  He then left the scene, while the crowd also started to dispersed.

And MIC still wonders why it lost! And others wonder why Makkal Sakthi has full support of the people on the ground. This is in relatively developing Kedah, not yet interiors of Pahang, Sarawak, Sabah, Kelantan, or Perak. » Read more: 51 years without piped water

After making a mess of denying the renewal of Makkal Osai’s publishing permit, Home Minister providers more comedy time for us.

I can only shake my head in amazement at the attempts these guys make!

In Putrajaya, Syed Hamid explained that the ministry had not cancelled Makkal Osai’s permit but merely delayed the approval for renewing its publishing licence. He said the newspaper’s permit had expired and its management had applied for renewal.

“(In the appeal letter) they said they needed to publish the newspaper and that they were supporting many people.

“They pledged to abide by the guidelines and contribute to nation-building efforts. I think their request was reasonable, so I approved it,” he told reporters yesterday.
