We can see the duel between BN and opposition enter another area – the villages. This crucial component of development aid focus promises business opportunity and platform for publicity/political career.  The state goverment will try to hire their own people, while the federal government will try to keep their appointees one way or another. We may end up seeing more red tapes, job titles, overlapping duties, power struggles etc, when each coalition puts up its own people. » Read more: non malay assistant penghulu in Kedah

The [Selangor] executive council has also today set up a three-member secretariat comprising executive councillors Teresa Kok, Dr Xavier Jeyakumar and Liu to handle issues relating to non-Muslim places of worship. According to Xavier, the secretariat has already received numerous complaints from temples representatives as well as trustees regarding problems involving land.  He said the secretariat will work with non-government organisations and religious bodies on the issue of building new temples and would bring the matter to the exco meeting for the final decision. “We will study whether there is a need for them. If they are necessary, we will give approval (to build them),” he said.

Added with the probability that this group would have high mobility (thus able to convey things they saw/read to more people) as compared to those in their 50s or 60s, the BN did a terrible mistake by overlooking the Internet.

I’m sure that IKIM, Syariah Judiciary Department, and AG can focus on better things, like guidelines on illegal body snatching, dubious conversion, taking over assets and estate of the deceased, insensitivities of the body snatchers etc. Instead, they want to be “fair” and find a way to charge the non-muslim partner in court! » Read more: Fancy punishment for khalwat?
