MIC unhappy only 34 offered JPA scholarships

We read yesterday about Kamine Devi who scored 10A1s not being offered anything  by PSD (JPA). She should also consider registering an appeal via MIC since they have a representative in cabinet. The community has no choice but to rely on MIC in this case because of the race based politics.

As Samy suggests, it should be an automatic offer for students who fulfill certain criteria  – certain number of As and/or family income. The should be a system integration between MES and JPA so that details of students can be linked. This will avoid cases of not being able to apply online, loss of data, incomplete/invalid application, incorrect data entry etc., and most importantly ensure no deserving students are left out. We are sick and tired of reading in the papers, year after year, students begging for scholarship. Simple thing also cannot solve.

Imagine only 34 get scholarship, out of possibly 2000++ places. Not even 5%, but about 2% only! And already have 194 appeals.

Let’s wait for MCA to reveal the numbers.   » Read more: MIC unhappy only 34 offered JPA scholarships

PUTRAJAYA, WED (Updated 3:30pm):

The Federal Court today dismissed the appeal of the five Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leaders who are being held under the Internal Security Act.  In upholding the decision of the Judicial Commissioner, the three-man bench – Datuk Allaudin Mohd Sheriff, Datuk Ariffin Zakaria and Datuk Hashim Yusof – ruled that the decision to detain the five under the ISA was legal. The ruling was made after reading the affidavits of the respondents, including that of the Prime Minister’s, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who was then the Internal Security Minister.

The Hindraf five – lawyers M. Manoharan, 46, (who is also the Kota Alam Shah assemblyman), P. Uthayakumar, 46, V. Ganabatirau, 34, R. Kengadharan, 40, and Hindraf coordinator T. Vasantha Kumar – were represented by Karpal Singh who said that he would file for a review of the ruling on Monday. The respondents were represented by Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail.

Detained Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) legal adviser P Uthayakumar is “being pressured to secretly undergo treatment” at the National Heart Institute, claimed his brother Waytha Moorthy. In a statement issued from London, where he is living in self-imposed exile, Waytha Moorthy (photo) said his brother is being compelled to do so without his family members being informed. “Uthayakumar fears for his life and does not wish to be treated without the presence and knowledge of his family members at the National Heart Institute,” he wrote. » Read more: Uthaya pressured to undergo secret treatment

Hmm….looks like end of the chapter for Alex. Maybe he waiting for party leaders to sack him so that can jump ship to PKR/DAP soon?

Anyways, Samy is still on his nationwide roadshow agenda to brainwash the community. There’s even a new slogan now – New Generation Party! Well, for starters, there should be a rule making those aged 70 and above to retire gracefully or forcefully. Ooops..that means Samy himself!

He talks about the same things that MCA, Gerakan, and many others have said. Well, better late than never 🙂 We can see the trend now where the leaders say they already know about the discontent/unhappiness of the community. But all the while since November 25 last year, the opposite was mentioned – “community is happy”, etc. Now all change tune 🙂 that’s politics and politicians for you! I bet they did not even began to comprehend the magnitude of their impending losses, but now have to pretend as if they knew it all along to hide their incompetence. » Read more: Dr S Subra says leaders must think multiracial
