Samy compares the apology by hishamuddin with the one by japanese emperor over the deaths during WW2. If I’m not mistaken, the Japanese government suffered a lot politically and socially due to the loss in WW2. The country was constitutionally bound not to involve in foreign issues, need to get approval to expand its army, it paid loads of money for the “comfort women”, and is constantly reminded of is crime from time to time. And I can’t recall any conditional apologies being made. But in our local case, the apology is offset with an “if” and looks more like political strategy rather than sincere from the heart. The feeling is that the apology is valueless. Samy is spot on when he says “If we talk further, we don’t respect the apology”! Its just a political move. » Read more: Hishamuddin is a gentleman says Samy

Ministry to channel funds via MARA for Pakatan led states
April 27th, 2008I’m quite surprised to hear this. I thought MARA is mainly (99% or 100%?) for Malay community, so how can funds from the Ministry is channeled to them? Does that mean that the Ministry only have funds for Malays all this while? Or is MARA’s role being expanded?
If it is the first case, that means the SEDC is for certain community only? That is quite bad. Imagine all the none PR states using funds for SEDC for benefit of certain race only. » Read more: Ministry to channel funds via MARA for Pakatan led states

April 24th, 2008A bit too late as election goodie, but a good news nonetheless. Irony is that there is at least 40 schools that need repairs in the first place. Those that are familiar with Tamil schools situation will know that the number run into hundreds, out of 523 schools. » Read more: 40 schools to be repaired
RM1 quite rent proposed for all schools in Penang
April 14th, 2008This is indeed a great news if successful. Something that was not done for past 50 years but is finally proposed now. Even though it may not amount to much, but will reduce burden of the schools a bit. Many tamil schools are in estate lands where some management pay the quit rent, while others have to pay themselves. The goal is to ensure that all schools are converted to fully-aided status, and put all students as equals without any discrimination. » Read more: RM1 quite rent proposed for all schools in Penang
Deputy Minister Kohilan finally sings…old tune?
April 14th, 2008We already heard MIC ministers speaking about their new jobs (except Devamany who just mentioned a bit during the MIC meeting). Now the other Indian (from Gerakan) speaks up. Probably since he is in a “multiracial” party, he didn’t have much coverage as MIC fellows.
What Kohilan is proposing is something that Hishamuddin announced just few days before the election. The fund to be set up will be channelled from the plantation firms and is to help the plantation workers’ family and student education.
So, who’s proposal is it actually? » Read more: Deputy Minister Kohilan finally sings…old tune?
